Student Leadership

“STUDENT LEADERSHIP AND STUDENT COUNCIL”

The Student Leadership program, including class captains, sports captains and Student Council representation, provides students with opportunities to develop their own leadership skills and have input into some school programs as well as having a positive impact on Baden Powell College and the broader community. Class representatives from Grades 1 to 9 have a variety of age appropriate responsibilities. Student Council is headed by the College Captains and Vice Captains. They participate in monthly meetings with the focus on student identified issues and social justice programs. Successful fundraising activities have included “The Biggest Morning Tea”, “Jeans for Genes Day”, “Smile Project” and “Crazy Hair Day”. These initiatives support many worthwhile community organisations. Our Primary and School Captains and Vice-captains, along with year 6 class captains are our Earlyact teams. An Interact Club has been formed with representatives from Years 7 – 9 meeting fortnightly on a Friday afternoon. Both Earlyact and Interact are Rotary International Sponsored Student Leadership initiatives. They identify and engage in School, Community and International focused projects. They meet on a fortnightly basis to ensure their projects are successfully implemented.  Sports captains organise and implement sports trials and activities for students to participate in during recesses. Student leaders assume responsibility for many whole school activities, and take a leadership role at college assemblies. All students demonstrate enthusiasm and work well together, as teams, for the betterment of the Baden Powell College Community.
